MPRRC Race: Tantalus 10-Mile Challenge
About the Race
UPDATE! POSSIBLE COURSE CHANGE.
The Bad News: Roadwork on the Tantalus-Round Top loop is completely blocking a portion of the race route at the top. It may be cleared by race day, maybe not. If it is not cleared, the course will start from the same location but will go up to the top and back the same way. The distance may not be exactly 10 miles but will be as close as possible using this alternative.
The Good News: There is still only one hill on the course.
DESCRIPTION
This is a one-loop course. Start at 6:30 a.m. on Makiki Heights Drive near Halau Kumana School, heading uphill on Makiki Heights Drive, branching onto Tantalus Drive uphill for about five miles, then onto Round Top Drive heading downhill for more than four miles to a right turn onto Makiki Street, and another right onto Makiki Heights Drive, finishing uphill near the starting point. There is no separate packet pickup, get your bib number on race morning.
There will be an optional early start at 6:00 a.m. for walkers and runners who plan to finish in more than 2.5 hours (15-minute miles). There are two requirements for the early start: 1) check in with the timer no later than 5:45 a.m. and 2) bring a light source (flashlight or headlamp) because it will still be dark at start time. Early start participants are not eligible for overall or age group awards.
